christmas events:

Plymouth’s Winter Festival, is being held in the centre of town, with lots of opportunities, for this i could either have myself a stall set up to sell my own original pieces of work, wich would work out allot cheaper if more people from the course have there work shown on the stall to lower the costs, eitehr that or i could look into selling either some of my work or christmas cards apon other peoples stalls to help cut the costs even more, either that or i could create a card that would be suitable to be possible sold at the santas grotto outside the skating rink since im sure there will be busy inside the lodge. Because of how busy the stalls will be my work is atleast garanteed to be recognised and aknowledged by passers by, so im more likely to find people to become interested in my work.

unfortunately i couldnt find another event, so i thoughti would write a few ideas for this one event instead.

this is a piece i have found by Matthew Robins is well done aswel as humourous it keeps the crowd excited and interested, his stories are quite imaginative and a little obscure but his creativity cannot be doubted he believes in his own work so much that his passions shines through his pieces, so its hard to not enjoy his work

300 about myself:

i chose to be on the 3 year illustration course as drawing is all ive known since i was born and all that ive really been good at. drawing is a ll ive really known and has been my main hobby and enjoyment for many years, with each year me learning about new capabilities and techniques which i discover. drawing takes me to my own little world, a chance for me to escape and relax, its not only a passion, but a way of life, and a day where my imagination doesnt flow and my pen/pencil/watercolours dont touch the paper… is the worst. being on the illustration course will hopefully teach me new skills and techniques, take me to a new level and be the next stepping stone in my life.

to say “change the world” would be a bit of an exaggeration but it would be my life complete to know that my work is known and studied world wide.

best art piece so far?… well! i have many art pieves that i am really proud of but the one i am most happiest with is the greatest achievement, not to mention the greatest grade. i did a massive project designing my own clothing, but also took it to the next level. i designed 4 different t-shirt ideas and the name of my clothing brand, but i didnt stop there. i got carried away and designed a website to sell the clothing on, label designs and many promotional factors, such as, “lookbook” (much lik,e a magazine), wrapping paper, facebook page, twitter page, youtube video, myspace page and posters. to do all this i did a 1 day photography shoot with 4 people plus myself which made the clothing brand look fun and querky. the final outcome was very successful and got alot of attention.

Matthew robins visited us for a lecture to show us some illustrative pieces he had created, he was inspiring, and his work is intricate and very time consuming but definitely pays off when you see his final pieces you know that all the hard work was time well spent

illustration and i

whats skills i arrived with at uni:
when coming to uni, my main areas that i thrive in are illustrating realistic portraiture and animals, cartoon, aswel as tattoo style images. My main equipment used are biro’s, pencils, water colours, acrylic and water colour pencils.

why i chose illustration:
while studying graphic design at somerset college of arts and technology for two years i realised most of my work was more illustrative than typographic, so i decided to start vearing my style of work mroe towards illustration than the digital media. From a young age i have always enjoyed drawing, but decided that it would be more likely to get a career doing graphics i chose that path, but i have to say im alot happier with the path i have now chosen and feel as though its a step in the right direction.

what areas of illustration most inspires me:
i have to say my chosen area would be designing tattoos, more traditional and vibrant images with a range of colours to compliment the image, but i have always had a soft spot for childrens book illustrations aswel as the idea of possibly designing collectable figures aswel as doing illustration to be printed on to clothing.
